The ITS UK trade mission took place in Riga at the beginning of November, taking the British delegation to Estonia and Finland after visiting Latvia. ITS Latvia was delighted to host the delegation and co-organise the launch of the programme. Together with partners from ITS UK, ITS Estonia and ITS Finland , an intensive three-country programme was held, aimed at strengthening international cooperation, sharing experiences and developing new opportunities for smarter and more sustainable mobility in the region.

Main events of the Riga program

  • The meeting at Riga City Council gave ITS Latvia members LMT Innovations, Lucidus, Mobilly and Dots the opportunity to present innovative data, traffic management and digital infrastructure solutions. The Riga City Development Department and the Outdoor Space and Mobility Department presented future projects, including planning low-emission zones and the use of big data in city development processes.

  • Presentation by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, during which priority projects were presented to the British delegation - the eFTI digital freight flow solution, the “Smart Border” initiative and upcoming plans for the digitalization of public transport. The Latvian State Roads and the Road Transport Directorate also participated in the discussions.

  • A visit to the Rail Baltica construction site. This was a great opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the implementation of the Baltics' most ambitious and significant mobility project, including seeing how the new Riga Central Station is being built.

Towards ITS World Congress 2027 in the United Kingdom

The meeting with the ITS UK delegation created new networking opportunities and partnerships, especially in preparation for the ITS World Congress 2027 , which will be held in Birmingham.
