Don't miss us out at the ITS European Congress in Istanbul as ITS Latvia hosts the session One Baltic journey: Data driven multimodal management across three countries on April 29th 11:45-12:45 at Room MAÇKA! We're bringing the Baltic (and not only) ITS players together to discuss how to make the cross-border mobility and transport services resilient, digital and with the end user in mind.
Building on the momentum of the Baltic Mobility Collaborative (BMC) introduced at the ITS Europe Congress in Seville, this follow-up session will focus on advancing the integration of cross-border mobility and transport services across the Baltics. As the Baltic region works towards more seamless passenger and freight flows, including making the supply chains better and resilient, digital infrastructure with real-time data platforms, digital twins, and MaaS solutions have become essential.
Moderated by Evan Costagliola (Cityfi Europe), expert in regional MaaS and mobility governance, the session welcomes representatives from all three Baltic States. Madis Sassiad (City of Tallinn) will share progress from Tallinn’s pilots in e-ticketing, on-demand mobility, and MaaS integration. Edgars Starkis (ITS Latvia) will present Riga region's advancements in multimodal transport management, driven by the Riga Metropolitan Area Action Plan and practical steps for seamless regional bus-rail coordination for better connectivity in Latvia with public transportation. Gintare Janušaitienė (Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania) will introduce governmental initiative to have national MaaS until 2029 and tell us why it is important to create Sustainable mobility data platform together with State data agency. Meanwhile, Gemma Schepers (City of Amsterdam) will speak on Amsterdam's transition towards secure digital identity solutions for travel and micro-mobility.
Together, the speakers will discuss how shared digital frameworks can accelerate the BMC’s objectives and how the Baltic experience can serve as a model for other European regions facing similar challenges. The session will outline concrete next steps for harmonising data, aligning governance structures, and scaling interoperable mobility and transport services across borders, ultimately contributing to a more integrated, user-centred Single Market for mobility and transport.
